Section 2 describes a number of strategies useful
in the lab and shop environment for effective teaching of the adult learner.
Examples of these strategies include demonstrations, peer teaching, writing,
experiential learning strategies, and so forth with a focus on addressing
all learning styles in the adult learner audience.
Section 3: Evaluating Student Progress
This section discusses the various methods of evaluating
student progress in a shop or lab environment. It focuses not only on
grading the adult learner, but also on providing learners feedback and
strategies for improvement.
Section 4: Laboratory/Shop Management
and Safety
This section focuses on methods to effectively manage
various types of labs and shop environments. It also discusses the many
safety issues related to teaching in these environments with recommendations
for maintaining and improving the safety of students and facilities. There
is a focus on students taking this safety behavior and knowledge to their
future workplaces. Important legal issues are discussed.
Section 5: Specific Lab and Shop Environments
This last section provides specific tips and techniques
useful for teachers in specific lab and shop environments, including allied
health labs, computer labs, electronics labs, HVAC labs, automotive labs,
cosmetology labs, and others.
