and inclusiveness. Factors such as communication and expectations play
a significant role in establishing a favorable environment. Instructors
can incorporate several methods for enhancing the environment for adult
students.
Section 3: Strategies for the Top 20
Student Situations
Section 3 presents some of the types of student problems an instructor
can encounter. Practical methods for dealing with each problem situation
are suggested and hypothesized reasons for the development of these issues
are offered.
Section 4: Diversity and Legal Issues
Section 4 introduces legal and diversity issues with which instructors
may be faced. It provides a foundational understanding of legislation
and regulations that can impact the educational setting. Suggestions for
additional information and resources are offered.
Section 5: Humor in the Classroom
Section 5 discusses how humor can be used in the classroom to enhance
the learning environment. Types pf humor, as well as appropriate and inappropriate
methods for incorporating humor into the classroom to facilitate learning
will be presented. Steps for introducing humor into the classroom will
be provided.
